Can the Dead Speak to Us?

Can the Dead Speak to Us?

Seeing as this time of year seems to commemorate the dead, I thought it would be wise to discuss the state of the dead. What happens when we die? Can our dead really speak to us? Is there life beyond the grave? Are ghosts real? In this article I hope to touch on these question. Before I proceed , I would like to request that you please share this article with others.

“The doctrine of natural immortality, first borrowed from the pagan philosophy, and in the darkness of the great apostasy incorporated into the Christian faith, has supplanted the truth, so plainly taught in Scripture, that “the dead know not anything.”  (EGW, 1911, P.515)

Many Christian sects have obscured the meaning of death and carry the belief that those who have departed from the earth carry consciousness in death. Although this is a popular view, if one is to look at the Biblical teaching on the state of the dead, one will find that in some cases place for monetary advancements. The Catholic Church is a branch of Christendom (but does not adhere to many of the fundamentals of the faith please compare the Ten Commandments from the Catholic Catechist and Christian Bible) has used the teaching of limbo or purgatory, which is not a Biblical teaching to gain funds.

Purgatory.—Dr. Joseph Faa Di Bruno thus defines purgatory: “Purgatory is a state of suffering after this life, in which those souls are for a time detained, who depart this life after their deadly sins have been remitted as to the stain and guilt, and as to the everlasting pain that was due to them; but who have on account of those sins still some debt of temporal punishment to pay; as also those souls which leave this world guilty only of venial sins.”—Catholic Belief (1884 ed.; Imprimatur Archbishop of New York), page 196.

As state above purgatory is not a Biblical teaching. The Bible teaches when one dies or “gives up the ghost” the body returns to the ground and the breathe of life goes back to God, for it is God who is the giver of life. “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”-Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV. The teaching of purgatory denotes that the dead still live on. Such a teaching is a Satanic teaching that originated in the Garden of Eden. The serpent or rather Satan (Revelation 12: 9 KJV) beguiled Eve (Read Genesis 1-3) and told her “Ye shall not surely die.” (Genesis 3:4). Prior to this encounter God himself had told Eve that if they were to disobey they were to die. “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17). This same belief is stands today “Ye shall not surely die…”

The idea that one lives on contradicts that which God has said. Before outlining the latter I must mention that the “living on” does not take place immediately but takes place after the judgment of God. This involves the resurrection of the saints of God and the sinners. The class that will live on and inherit the kingdom of God are those who kept his commandments.

Revelation 22:14King James Version (KJV)
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 (KJV)
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Revelation 20:4-5 (KJV)
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

The concept of purgatory also suggest immortality, immortality is only exclusively for the Godhead. “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15-16). The dead are not aware of anything in death. It is us that are alive who are conscious of death but the “dead know nothing”

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6&10)

The idea that ghost and spirits of our loved ones live on is false. The only one who is immortal is God. Even those who will inherit kingdom of heaven will only be able to preserve their live by eating from the tree of life.

Revelation 22:2King James Version (KJV)
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14King James Version (KJV)
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Some of you may be reading this and fall into the category of where you have seen or heard from a love one beyond the grave. If the Word of God has stated that the death have know nothing how is it possible for them to live in death?

John 8:44 (KJV)
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The Devil is the father of lies! Him and his allies often pull strings to deceive many. If you do ever hear of see a loved one who have passed I encourage you to say that I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. For the Word of God has said the dead know nothing!

I hope that this article has been helpful and I ask again that you please share this with as many as possible!
